It's the first RPG I ever played. Probably it's the same with you.

Excellent character generator with a lot of flexibility. Especially useful for those of us who can't download things. www.pathguy.com/cg35.htm

Yup, first RPG for me too. We tried to play it, but couldn't make heads or tails out of it. So we played Hero Quest instead. We had two of the expansion sets too. It was fun while it lasted.

Hero Quest? Doesn't sound familiar, which is strange.

It's an old board game, where you had figurines and such at your disposal for use in the game. It was quite cool.

Oh yes, I remember now. We played it a fair bit, too, but only when the whole group wasn't present for D&D. We also played Black Tower a lot.

I first experience with DnD was, showing my age, 23 years ago. Good Lord that makes me sound old! Rolling characters with actual die, writing the stats on a character sheet paper, and using little pweter (sp) figurines.
It brings back some fun times!

You think you're old? My first set was bot in 1976!

doom! I wasn't even born in 1976!
My first attempt was about 18 years ago, and it was less than impressive given that there were only my brother and I.

I would cry if you had not written anything else after that first sentence. The '18 years ago' makes me feel much better because it makes you sound old too.

That was just me trying to figure out if the word filter was turning things into Doom on me.

Only that particular word. Filters are fun.
