I just started an autobiagraphy by james Cagney. He writes pretty much as he talks, very fast & a little jumpy. In general, I think I prefer autobiographies to biographies simply because the author is usually more knowledgable about the subject.
I don't read biographies very often, tho. It's rare that I care that much about someone else's life.

Pardon my ignorance. Who's James Cagney again?

He's an Irish-American actor best known for his roles as tough-guy criminals. His range was much greater, tho, & he made several musicals. I don't much care for his singing voice, but he danced as well as Gene Kelly. My personal favorite among his movies is Man of a 1000 Faces about Lon Chaney.

Googled his picture up and I begin to see your point about the tough guy gangster movies. It's all black and white stuff.

Yeah, color wasn't a big thing till toward the end of his career. Check out M, the George M. Cohan story. He plays George.
