Tell us about books you loved or hated. Don't be mean, tho. There's no reason to say, "This author is a jerk" even if he is. We want reasons for your opinions.

The Dark Tower-series by Stephen King. I really have to mention those books, since they're... unbelievable. Best story Stephen King has ever written. There's seven books in total to the series. Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three Dark Tower III: Wasteland Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass Dark Tower V: Wolves of Calla Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower Get them while you can. There's over... doom, I can't even count how many pages to read. Must be near... 2000 pages? Maybe? Anyway, it's a very strong tale, with great characters and a twisting plot that keeps going and never lets you go. When I got the last books, I just had to read them all right away. I wanted to know how the story ended! I very highly recommend the series, buy them all or get them from a library if you can. This is a story you shouldn't miss.

Interesting. I've actually avoided reading these, but I forget why. Just a couple nites ago someone offered to loan me Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three. I declined. By the way, it's 400 pp exactly.

The one that leaps to mind is the Phillip Pullman series His Dark Materials. For some reason people kepe cataloguing these as children's books. Probably because the main characters are kids. However, I don't think that you can really say that a series involving the church severing the ties between children and their souls and a war on heaven to be G rated goodness.
Anyway, it's a great series.

Sounds like an interesting concept. I've never heard of it, but I'll probably look for it. Did anyone know that Terry Pratchett is doing kids/YA type books now? That is, he has before, but now he's using Discworld.

They were whole books. And then there's the classic "Where's my cow?"

Not too fast. It's more a matter of momentum.
